






Tangerang, October 29, 2025 — Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang (UMT) once again demonstrated its commitment to expanding students’ international experiences by holding a farewell ceremony for students participating in the International Field Experience Practice (PPL) and Community Service Program (KKN) to Thailand and Japan. The ceremony took place solemnly in the Auditorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang and was attended by the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, Chair of the Daily Advisory Board (BPH), Deans, Heads of Study Programs, and representatives of parents/guardians of students.
This program is part of the campus internationalization efforts initiated by the Office of International Affairs (KUI) UMT, six students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) will undergo PPL and International KKN in Krabi Province, Thailand, for two months. They will be placed in State and Royal schools in Thailand to carry out English language teaching activities and introduce Indonesian culture to local students. Meanwhile, four students from the Nursing Science Study Program will undertake an international internship program in Japan for a full year. They will be placed in UMT partner hospitals and health institutions to deepen their professional experience in the field of nursing while strengthening their cross-cultural communication skills.
In his remarks, UMT Rector, Dr. H. Desri Arwen, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation to the students selected to participate in this international program. He stated that this opportunity is concrete evidence that UMT students are capable of competing globally.
“This International PPL and KKN program is not only a learning tool, but also a way to build character and global competitiveness. We hope that UMT students can become ambassadors who bring good name to the university and the nation on the international stage,” said the Rector.
Similarly, Dr. Aidil Syah Putra, S.Hum., M.Pd., Director of the UMT Office of International Affairs and Chair of the Association of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Universities’ International Affairs Offices, the main initiator of this student internationalization program, emphasized that this activity is the result of a strategic collaboration between UMT and foreign partner institutions under the coordination of the Association of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Universities’ International Affairs Offices (KUI PTMA).
“This activity didn’t emerge overnight, but rather through a long collaborative and mentoring process. We want to ensure that students are truly prepared academically, linguistically, and mentally. Through this program, they will learn to become global citizens who uphold Islamic and national values,” said Dr. Aidil.
He also added that sending students to Thailand and Japan is part of UMT’s strategy to strengthen international networks, particularly in the fields of education and health.
“Six FKIP students will strengthen cultural and educational diplomacy in Thai schools, while four Nursing students will deepen their clinical practice in Japan. This is a concrete step for UMT in producing graduates who are globally minded yet grounded,” he added.
The Head of the UMT Student Executive Board, H. M. Naisan, SH., M.Hum., on the same occasion emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity, discipline, and Islamic character during the program abroad.
“You are not only representing UMT, but also representing Muhammadiyah and the Indonesian nation. Be role models who spread the values of progressive Islam wherever you are,” he said.
One parent representative expressed his gratitude for the opportunity provided by UMT.
“We are very proud and grateful to UMT for providing such a great opportunity for our children to study abroad. This is a truly invaluable experience,” he said.
The send-off ceremony concluded with the symbolic presentation of jackets and departure documents to student representatives by the Rector and the Head of the Student Advisory Board (BPH), accompanied by a prayer and warm support from the parents in attendance.
Through this International PPL and KKN program, Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang further affirms its commitment to the internationalization of education, the development of global character, and the strengthening of Islamic values in academic and professional practice.
